Are there different types of health insurance exchanges?

¬†All Exchanges have the same functions, the difference is in the operation of the Exchanges. Some states run their own exchange (known as state-based exchanges) and some have the federal government run it (known as federally facilitated exchanges). In Nebraska, the Health Insurance Marketplace and SHOP Marketplace for small employers are federally facilitated exchanges; however, the federal government relies on the Nebraska Insurance Department to approve insurers, plans and rates, provide consumer assistance and perform other regulatory roles.
